Mental Health Awareness Month
As a mental health professional who also works in the schools, I have seen firsthand the increase of mental health concerns affecting today’s youth. Even before the pandemic, it was estimated that 1 out of 5 youth are experiencing a mental health concern. The pandemic only worsened the crisis.
A majority of these youth are not receiving the mental health services or support that they need. There is a lot of work that needs to be done on all levels to address these concerns. If you are concerned about your own child and the difficulties they are facing, it is important to reach out to see what services you may be able to access.
Some of the online resources that may be useful for information include:
Child Mind Institute - https://childmind.org
National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) - https://www.nami.org
Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) - https://www.samhsa.gov
Please reach out if you need any help or support in this journey. You are not alone.
Wishing you well,
Dr. Stoll
