I am now a certified Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) Provider.

What is Safe and Sound and how might it help your child?

The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is an evidence-based listening therapy designed to reduce sound sensitivities and improve auditory processing, behavioral state regulation, and social engagement behaviors through filtered music.

As a practical application of Polyvagal Theory, the SSP acts as a non-invasive, acoustic vagal nerve stimulator, helping to retune the nervous system to better support connection, collaboration and resilience.

The SSP involves listening to specially filtered music through headphones to retune the nervous system to better support connection, collaboration, and resilience.

Program Highlights

  • A 5-hour auditory intervention developed and patented by Dr. Stephen Porges, author of the Polyvagal Theory.

  • Designed to reduce sound sensitivity, and improve auditory processing and behavioral state regulation.

  • Activates the client’s social engagement system, helping to accelerate and enhance therapeutic outcomes.

  • Supports physiological state regulation, allowing for greater resilience.

The Safe and Sound Protocol can be integrated into any therapy sessions - or as a stand-alone service.

About Dr. Stoll

I have been working with children, adolescents, and families in many different capacities over the last 25 years as a teacher, counselor, and school psychologist.

I obtained my doctorate at the University of Arizona in 2017. My training included working in schools, community mental health settings, and in a juvenile detention center. I also obtained my Master’s of Counseling degree at Arizona State University in 2004.

My passion is to help children and adolescents who are experiencing difficulties in school, with their friends, or in their families. I have experience working with children and adolescents who have:

  • Learning difficulties;

  • Trouble feeling happy;

  • Anxious thoughts;

  • and attention and/or behavioral challenges.

In my therapy practice, I use an integrated or holistic (mind-body) approach to therapy pulling from cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and trauma-focused orientations.

I believe that learning is a life-long process. I have continued to build my expertise in working with youth by attaining additional certifications as an Autism-Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist and ADHD - Certified Clinical Services Provider. I also recently completed the Trauma Research Foundation’s Certificate in Traumatic Stress Studies.

In my free time, I am a busy mom to two children and two furry friends. I enjoy spending time outdoors, visiting National Parks, and visiting with family and friends.

  • Yes!

    For therapy purposes in my private practice, the initial intake session and first few sessions will be part of an evaluation of your child’s needs.

    I also provide private psychological evaluations including testing for autism, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, and learning difficulties. These evaluations are currently being provided through Ridge Zeller Therapy. You can contact me or call Ridge Zeller Therapy directly at 480-365-9981 to set up an appointment.

  • No. I am not offering in person therapy at this time. My telepsychology therapy services are being scheduled on a part-time basis. If you are seeking in person services for your child, I will provide you with referrals as needed.

  • Yes! Recent studies have shown that telepsychology can be just as effective as in person therapy. There are benefits and risks to both telepsychology and in person therapy that should be considered prior to deciding which type is best for your child. I will be happy to discuss this with you during a consultation or initial intake session.

  • The Good Faith Estimate (GFE) is part of the No Surprises Act (2021). It shows the cost of services that are reasonably expected for the expected services to address your child’s mental health care needs. You will be provided with a Good Faith Estimate prior to the first service date.

    The Good Faith Estimate does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment. You could be charged more if complications or special circumstances occur. If this happens, federal law allows you to dispute (appeal) the bill.
